Welcome to my calculator collection!
The seventies were the decade of the electronical calculators. In those ten years, they underwent an unprecendented evolution - starting with expensive, but functional poor High-End devices and ending in cheap able-to-do-everything devices.
It is fascinating to see, how much effort was put into those machines.
Today, this is absolutely unthinkable. Especially in the early
calculators, you can find single-digit tubes, lots of ICs, discrete
semiconductors and expendable keyboars. At the end of the seventies,
all this had to go away for cheap LC displays and printed circuit board,
that contained a single bonded IC on the one and the contacts for the
rubber contacts of the keyboard on the other side.
From the former amada of accumulators with loading circuits,
nothing is left; since the power consumption is reduced to a fraction,
todays' calculators are powerd by single button-cells and solar
cells.
In spite of all later high tech, there are especially the early calculators, which show perfect ingenieur work, sometimes packed into a spectacular design.
