Description

The Cupillard 233 is an old french handwound movement, which was produced for several decades. When in 1965 the France Ebauches was founded and the Ebauches Cupillard were part of them, the caliber 233 was produced from then on as FE 233-60.

The caliber 233 is a 15-jewel movement with decentral second hand at "6". The strips on the plate are visually appealing and especially the silvering of the plates is very nice. You can see it also on those spots, which decolored over the time. With a silver floor cloth they start shining again.

Technically, this movement resembles clearly the state-of-the-art of the 1940ies with its non shock-protected screw balance, the 15 jewels, the yoke winding system and the sugar loaf screws for the dial.

Newer versions of that movement used a differently shaped gear bride and an Incabloc shock protection system. The best version even contained a gold-toned Glucydur balance with screws.
