Description

In the 1940ies and 50ies, Henzi & Pfaff of Pforzheim, Germany produced a number of rather cheap watches. The caliber 6031 is among the last ones of them. It is a simple pier movement with a swiss pallet anchor lever (which was advertised on the dial to remind of a "Swiss" watch).

The HPP 6031 uses a simple ring balance, which is beared in two inhouse "Supershock HPP" shock protections. Nevertheless, even these protections cannot help against very hard shocks, and such a shock broke the balance axle on the watch shown here.

The movement drives the hands indirectly by the mainspring, while the minute wheel is located decentrally and the center second hand is driven indirectly. Many gears run in cap jewels, which allowes the marketing-relevant statement of "21 Jewels" on the dial.

The date is centered by a simple, but effective mechanism and switches slowly. It cannot be corrected in a faster way.

On the dial side, there's a yoke winding mechanism - a feature, which is normally found in better watches only.
