Förster 197
Description
Hard to believe, but this modern Förster selfwindig movement was already the last but one mens' selfwindig movement, which Förster launched. It was already available at the beginning of the sixties.
The caliber 197 contains a bidirectional selfwindig system, which is disconnected on handwindig by a Breguet-type clutch, which is located below the first gear (at 8:30). To save some space, the crown wheel is slantedly mounted (with its deepest position at 8:30) - an unconventional solution.
The contemporary two-leg ring balance is beared in two Antichoc S 65 shock protection systems and still beats slowly with 18000 A/h. The hairspring is connected to a moveable stud and the regulator contains an arm to achieve a simpler regulation.
On the dial side, there’s a rather complex date mechanism, which slowly advances the date.
