PUW 1001

Description

This movement was the second electromechanical movement, which was produced in Pforzheim, Germany. When it was launched in 1969, it was so precise, and could even be regulated by a micrometer screw, that it ran within the chronometer specifications.

Technically, it was built the traditional way: Balance with coil, electric contacts and permanent magnet. There was one speciality with the permanent magnets: With releasing just one screw, the whole plate with the magnets could be pulled away, giving free access to the balance.

This movement was produced a few years only and the replaced by a new movement without electric contacts.

Due to the usage of electric contacts, the expected life time was only about seven years. This means, that working movements are very hard to find nowadays.
