My Linux Router
... is a vintage Compaq Deskpro 590, running
fli4l. Since it doesn't
have to be up 24hrs per day, a timeswitch powers it off at night.
On this machine, a 56k Acer modem (mostly off) and a DSL modem are
responsible for internet connections.
Since I'm using two network cards, it acts as firewall and protects the Windows machine against all those hacking tries. The firewall logs show a lot of activity...
Thanks to fli4l, the router is only online, when needed. Nobody needs a 24hrs per day connection via DSL.
